Calathea lancifolia, often known as the Rattlesnake Plant, is a native of the Brazilian rainforest and a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit recipient. For decades, it has been a favorite of home gardeners, and its popularity continues to rise due to its air-purifying and pet-friendly properties. It is a proud member of the prayer plant family and cousin to the gorgeous Calathea makoyana, the peacock plant, and many other stunners, yet it is fairly easy to care for.
Plant Care
Fertilizer/ feed for the plant: Feed your Calathea a nitrogen-rich fertilizer every three weeks during the summer. Feed the fertilizer once a month during the winter.
Repotting: Repot your Calathea once a year. Select a pot that is one size larger than the previous one. Calatheas can be transmitted by division. Wait until your Calathea has reached a mature size before splitting it. Calathea can also be propagated by stem cuttings.
